It's what's inside that counts!

The inside of the house is chock full of original trim goodness as well as horrible renovation decisions which I'm sure seemed like great ideas at the time.

From the back door we enter into the kitchen which is as Becky claimed when we first viewed the house, "The worst room"

The wonderful strapping boards on the ceiling are from a previously installed acoustical tile ceiling (how chic!).  Luckily for us, the oh so trendy ceiling alternative was up in the dining room and entryway.  Going straight ahead we enter the living room
The living room is large and bright.  Unfortunately it also has a horrific layer of nicotine on the wallpaper.  Those walls were once a much lighter shade of white which is both amazing and horrible all at once.  The carpet is gross and had a really cool pattern in the shape of a burn mark....
Fortunately, only the carpet suffered damage at this spot.  Just another one of those, "What were they doing in here?" moments.
Since I'm quite the detective I've come to the conclusion that the woodstove (Vermont Castings Defiant Encore) had something to do with it.
One of my favorite features are the french doors that flank the entryway.  There is a matching pair across the way that open into the dining room.
Another prime example of WTF remodeling are the floor tiles covering the wood floor in the entryway.
Unsurprisingly the ugly carpet flows up the stairs and into the 2nd floor.   The entryway has a decently sized closet full of some old curtains... because...well... because
Before going upstairs though we'll take a quick peek into the dining room..
The dining room has one of my favorite house features which is the built in hutch.  The back of the hutch actually opens up completely allowing access from the pantry.

up the stairs we go..  to be greeted by a very pretty but oh so low newell post and railing
And one of two linen closets (there is another one right across the hallway)
At the top of the stairs in the only bathroom in the house.  Not much to look at but all the necessities are there.

Turning around we see the rest of the hallway and take a left into the first of three bedrooms
I know everyone reading this is super jealous of our awesome wallpaper
What they should be jealous of though are the original skeleton keys (5 total) that were in the house.
The room has a single (large) closet
Planning a storage solution that makes the most of this space will be a bit of a challenge.
The second bedroom is small but large enough for a guest room or office.
The closet for this bedroom is awkwardly large.  Large enough to hold the ladder to get into the attic.
 Looking out into the hallway
This is the third bedroom which is the same size as the first but has an extra closet (similar in size to the downstairs entryway closet)
And.... another large and awkward closet.
Looking back into the hallway from the third bedroom.
And, since its technically a room here are some pictures of the enclosed front porch (which I'll be opening back up) and front door.

Stay tuned for more posts!
