Colors!! We picked Colors! (well.. maybe just one..)

Boom!  If that's not a delicious blend of colors and patterns I don't know what is..

Wallpaper for the dining room and some colors for the rest of the house

To those of you who may have noticed a bit of a dry spell in regards to blog posts...  We're sorry!  We've been trying to enjoy summer as much as possible.   In between the flood, gas leak scare (yes, another one) and general house projects we haven't completed many exciting projects as of late.

That said, we're getting closer to actually painting things a non nicotine stained color!  We finally went and bought a gallon of paint for the replacement balusters and trim.  This decision has stalled pretty much all projects requiring a coat of paint (pretty much all of them).  After deciding that the 900 color chips we had picked up from every store in the area were just not going to work for us we swung into a Benjamin Moore retailer and made a decision.

We decided on colors from the Williamsburg Collection from Benjamin Moore.  They aren't super authentic Bungalow colors but whatever.  Our house is a mix of Art Nouveau and early Arts and Crafts so I think we'll be just fine.  We went with Capitol White for our trim which is a soft creamy white that should work well in our space.

We also grabbed a sampler of Governor's Gold which is a color we're going to paint the entry and upstairs hall in.  Its a very nice color that takes on a couple different looks depending on the light.  We're going to have lots of white trim in these two areas so this color should really work great.

The paint we chose for the trim is called Advance (Benjamin Moore).  It's a really neat product in that its a Waterborne Alkyd.  This means we will get Oil Paint hardness and shine but with low VOCs and easy water clean up!  From all reviews it seems to be a fantastic product and was actually recommended by my Contractor/Painter uncle who loves it.  We went with a semi-gloss for the trim which should give us a nice shine but not look plastic or make every tiny imperfection stand out.
Here is a sneak peak of what they'll look like together.  My camera's color correction throws the colors off quite a bit but it gives a general idea. Oh, and yes... that's how far from white our trim is now.  I can't wait to get the trim painted!  Everything looks so grungy because of the horrible off white paint and trim.

That's all for now but we've got some big projects to be tackled soon so keep an eye out for updates!
